Fair Trial and Human Rights IPLS just released a new comprehensive study called Fair Trial and Human Rights. The study, funded by the Open Society Foundation for Albania in the framework of NOSA (an exclusive club of Albania’s most distinguished think tanks) operating in the field of Rule of Law and Good Governance, is designed to show how an environment of functioning court administration is conducive to effective upholding of human rights in the course of judicial proceedings. Departing from the recognized human rights standards platform, as enshrined in civil and criminal procedural legislation, IPLS has assessed numerous court performance variables with a view to establishing the interconnection between the thus far illusive tandem of court administration and human rights. The study also gives a fresh account as to how transparent the Albanian courts are. The study’s approach on judicial transparency entails public relations systems of the judiciary, its relations with the media and the degree of implementation by the judiciary of the Freedom of Information Act. |
